| The Centre for Violence Prevention
(CVP) is a network for collaboration between various authorities
and organisations involved with violence and the prevention
of violence.
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is responsible for prison,
probation and parole sentences. CVP and the Prison and Probation
Service collaborate in several areas. For example, CVP trains staff at Swedish prisons and probation centres
in risk assessment. CVP and the prison and probation service have
also collaborated on research concerning the special support department
and treatment programs for convicted sexual offenders.
The National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) provides closed care
for young individuals who have been taken into care under the Care
of Young Persons Act, and abusers committed to compulsory care under
the Care of Abusers Act. SiS is also responsible for the care of
individuals sentensed by court to closed juvenile care.
SiS and CVP collaborate on research and training regarding treatment
methods and risk management.
County council forensic mental care, the closed care under the Forensic
Mental Care Act, admits patients sentenced to care by the courts.
This care, which is often lengthy, aims to treat mental ill offenders
prior to their return to society.
The task of the police is to prevent and combat crime. CVP collaborates
with the police on training, such as within the criminal intelligence
service.
