| Violence
is one of the great public health issues of our time. The work at the Centre for Violence Prevention (CVP) aims to reduce violence in society.
CVP is an applied centre. Our activities are based on collaboration between the academic, scientific field
and the applied (clinical, operative) entities in the area.
A key word for CVP is proximity. We want to conduct research close to front-line realities and try to avoid becoming isolated at a university campus. Essentially all co-workers have, or have recently had, affiliations with clinical pratices in the field. Hopefully, this improves our
ability to address relevant research questions and our ability to assess opportunities and remedy limitations with various research designs.
The aim of CVP is to integrate different perspectives
on violence and violence prevention. Epidemiologic, social, medical
and psychological perspectives are all important in understanding the complexities of violence.
