22/01/2003 Board of Research establishes CVP
The Board of Research today formally founded the Centre for Violence Prevention (CVP) as an official Centre of the Karolinska Institutet (KI).

At the meeting, the planned organisation was presented by the Head of the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Professor Arne Öhman, together with Associate professor Martin Grann, the initiator behind CVP.

The decision sets out that CVP will work with research and development issues within the field of violence prevention, collaborating with a network of external entities such as the prison and probation service, the police and forensic mental health services. The organisation will be led by the Head of Dept. through a director. Martin Grann was appointed director of CVP.

By founding CVP, the KI has strengthened its position in research on violence, an ever-topical and important public health issue.
